Bacon isn’t just for breakfast these days. Sure, we’ve seen it in salads and sandwiches, but now it has taken over the dessert world. It’s topping ice cream, sneaking into brownies, and gracefully accenting pies.

We’ve even found a way to make it into candy. What? Bacon candy? I know everyone loves bacon AND everyone loves candy, so why not put them together and make candied bacon? So…candied bacon…how do we make it?

It’s really easy. Start off with thick cut slices of bacon placed on a foil-lined pan, and sprinkle generously with brown sugar.

Bake in a 350 degree oven turning once for about 20 minutes until your bacon looks brown and crispy. Let it cool on a wire rack. If you’re looking for a snack, just cut the candied bacon into 1-inch pieces and voila, an addicting and satisfying munchie. Just try to stop yourself from eating every last piece.

I decided to channel my naughty side and sneak candied bacon into one of my favorite treats of all time…chocolate chip cookies.

I haven’t made them yet but brown sugar bacon as you make it in this recipe is our favorite Christmas morning breakfast food. I will definitely be trying it in cookies…does that mean we can eat them for breakfast too?

Try them, oh yes! An old friend of my husbands made these and posted on Facebook. I HAD to try them. I do have to say we bought a different bacon because our usual wasn’t on sale, definitely need our original. Wright Brand is a household favorite along with Safeway brand. They are a bit saltier. ;) At any rate, these were delicious! I added walnuts to the 2nd half of the batch…YUM! I just love walnuts in cookies. It didn’t take away from the bacon or chocolate at all. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. It’s a keeper!

Abso-freaking-lutely! I had a candy bar with bits of applewood smoked bacon and sea salt in it at the NYC Fancy Food Show a couple years ago. Was VERY hesitant to try it, but try it I did. AND I LOVED IT!!! I can’t wait to make these cookies.

My friends’ cat just had to put down and I was going to make them some cookies as a sympathy gift. Since they are the same friends who drink bacon vodka, this seems appropriate. I hope they taste as good as they sound.
