These pizza rolls take the shape of pretty pinwheels, and they’ll spin your idea of just how easy these little snacks are to make at home.

How many times have you been asked, “If you could eat just one thing everyday for the rest of your life, what would it be?” My answer has and will always be…pizza. Can I figure out a way to sneak a daily dose of chocolate in there too?

Well if I’m going to eat pizza every day, some variations are needed to keep things interesting. These Pizza Rolls have all the elements of a classic pizza rolled up, baked, and dipped into warm marinara sauce.

Easy Homemade Pizza Rolls

My husband is gone a lot this time of year for his job, which leaves me with just little palates to please for dinner. My kids think I’m the bomb when I fix hot dogs for dinner, and fancy dishes like Chicken Marsala are wasted on them. Although I do try to cater to kid-friendly fare, I can’t feed my kids hot dogs every night.

These Pizza Rolls paired with a salad or some steamed broccoli are a perfect meal to keep everyone happy. Kids love to dip food in condiments like ketchup and ranch, so dipping these pizza rolls in marinara sauce is right up their alley.

This is a great meal to get your kids involved in. Get them in the kitchen, with clean hands of course, and let them sprinkle and roll up these pizza rolls. My boys jumped at the chance to help out.

Just sprinkle all of your toppings in an even layer on Pillsbury refrigerated pizza crust, along with some garlic salt and basil for some flavor. Roll it up and cut into miniature rolls ready to be popped into the oven.

How to Make Pizza Rolls

Then let your kids start dipping these cheesy pepperoni rolls in warm marinara sauce!

Great for Football Sunday! Everybody loved them. Only thing I would suggest- If you’re feeding a group of men, double the recipe. ;)

Tip: any time I am making any type of pinwheel, I roll it tightly (as possible) and then freeze for an 45-hour or so. After you take it out of the freezer, slice with a serated knife–it works perfectly no matter where you start (ends or middle). Hth :)

try rolling your pizza tightly, coat it in egg, sprinkle parmesan cheese over it, and cut it after it is fully baked. We call this pizza bread.

A tip to keep them in shape is to bake the rolls in a muffin pan!

You can cut it with a thread, the way you cut a jelly roll and it won’t mash the roll down so the slices will be round

I made the mistake of not rolling it tight enough. So as I tried to transport each one to the baking sheet, they fell apart a bit. However, they still turned out great! I would just roll it tighter next time. Great recipe.

This is great. Could these be frozen and used as a quick dinner or snack later on? I saw you had some other pinwheel recipes, one you might want to add… I’ve made pinwheels using cream cheese and shredded ham. It’s great for a quick breakfast!

This recipe looks really simple. I would suggest cutting the roll much like a sushi roll and start in the middle and then keep cutting each piece from the middle and it saves the ingredients from spilling out.

I made this tonight and used very little sauce…they worked great. Also used a loaf of frozen bread dough that had been thawed. Tasted sooooo good.

Don’t put the sauce on the pizza, it’s for dipping. The reddish brown you see is the pepperoni and cheese. Also, an easy way to cut them is by using dental floss, just like you would cut cinnamon rolls.

Tried these tonight & they turned out great!! But mine didn’t bake round more like oblong. Because while cutting the dough it mashed. Any tips on cutting the dough so it won’t smush? I will most definitely be making these in the furture bc they were a hit! My husband said he liked them better than regular pizza!

Definetely don’t put sauce on the crust……it makes it too soft to cut right!!! But they tasted great…just didn’t look great!!!

I would think the mini pepperoni’s would work perfect for this recipe.

The best pizza dough ever to use with this recipe is the Rhodes frozen italian pizza dough. I seriously won’t use any other dough because it just isn’t as good as this one.

I would imagine that you would bake them flat just like you would cinnamon rolls. If you would keep it in a roll it wouldn’t bake right. This is tonight’s dinner, looking forward to see how they will turn out and if my little peas like it.

Thanks for the recipe – momma pea

Do you let them in a roll while baking or do you lay each one flat??

12/04/2011 5:50 PM

Hey no problem, my mistake! Still looks Great!

ummmm…..the recipe clearly states “serve with warm marinara for dipping”. sauce not in rolls, you DIP them.

It’s actually the pepperoni, not sauce, peeking through.

11/29/2011 11:02 PM

Hey guys, there actually isn’t any sauce ON the pizza. You just use the sauce for dipping. Trust me, tastes great that way!

11/11/2011 2:49 PM

it’s on there…she just forgot it on the To Do list, if you look at the picture you can see the sauce! …. :)

Why is there no sauce on the pizza? Just wondering if it’s a preference, or if the rolls won’t bake properly if you add sauce.
