Merry Breakfast! With some simple batter, food colors and a bit of Christmas magic, you can make morning as mischievous as Santa’s elves.

You guys, it’s freaking December. Where did this year go? Santa’s about to fall down your chimney in like 20 minutes and you better be ready. He’s not kidding around.

I fully believe the best way to get prepped for this insano month is to have a metric ton of chocolate sprinkles, pearl sugar balls and various bottles of food coloring on hand. Why? We’re giving our breakfast a HOLIDAY MAKEOVER with these Holiday Hot Cakes and Waffles. And I’m your host.

Pour some eggnog, get your kids involved and go jolly balls out with this. Santa recommends it. Here’s how!

Grab your trusty Bisquick pancake mix, along with the decoration goods to pull this whole awesome mess together.

Bisquick to Make Holiday Pancakes

Mix the batter in a large bowl and, depending on how many different colors you want your cakes and waffles to be, evenly divide the batter into that many bowls.

Bisquick Batter in Bowls

Squirt 10 (or more!) drops of the food coloring into the batter bowls. I now like saying, “batter bowls.”

After you fry up a batch of little pancakes, take a star cookie cutter and cut out little stars.

And get this, pour the green batter into a waffle iron, and guess what you get. CHRISTMAS TREES! Stop laughing.

Pancakes Stars and Waffle Christmas Trees

Look at my little red star pancakes. Guess what I sprinkled in the batter while they were frying. CRUSHED UP CANDY CANES. Oh no I didn’t.

Here’s a close-up of the little trees. That’s vanilla frosting with chocolate sprinkles on it for the trunks. Are you dying yet?

And this is what happens when you turn your back on the platter, and the husband yoinks your food.

You didn’t think such a party could occur in your kitchen that early in the morning, did ya?
