Give up your favorite coffeehouse mocha to save some moolah? *gasp!*

Don’t panic! With this easy recipe for Mocha Latte, you can do it easily.

Forget about the beaucoup-bucks mocha you fell in love with at your favorite neighborhood coffee place. It’s just not budget friendly. But this one? You can make it for pennies at home in 5 minutes. Cool, or what?!

You only need 3 ingredients – strong hot coffee, hot chocolate mix and whole milk.

Ingredients for Mocha Latte

Of course, if you want to fancy it up a bit, you could add some whipped cream too. Or stir it with a candy cane (peppermint mocha latte!). But that’s up to you.

So, to start, add the hot chocolate mix to the strong, hot coffee.

Adding Cocoa Mix to Hot Coffee

Stir it up well. Be sure to really get in there and mix it around so that it’s really well combined.

Then heat up the milk on the stove. If you have one of those fancy little aerators for making foamed milk, use it. Otherwise, grab your smallest whisk and whisk the milk like crazy for a minute or so until it’s good and foamy. Then pour that foamed milk into the coffee.

Pour Hot Milk into Mocha Latte

Done.

Well, like I said, unless you want to get a little fancier. Go ahead — grab the whipped cream. Why not?

Now enjoy that mocha in your mouth and the moolah in your pocket!

I have been addicted to the Tim Horton’s Mocha Lattes and wanted to find a home version for the days that I want one and am not heading to town. Tried your recipe and it is close to what I am looking for. I think one of my mistakes is not using a good quality of hot chocolate which I intend to remedy the next time I head to the grocery store. I also added a scoop of vanilla ice cream to get the cream texture I wanted and that made it better. :)

@ Anon below: Good point! You sound like you really know your coffee beverages. But ya gotta admit … the Mocha Latte was fun side-by-side with Mucho Less in the title. We love alliteration! :) Thanks for following Tablespoon — we’d love to see some of your coffee drink recipes. Would you submit some? plz dont say mocha latte ever again its redundant and annoying. To clarify a mocha is espresso steamed milk and chocolate a latte is just steamed milk and espresso

The thing I don’t really like is that they don’t give you measurements or estimates of measurements. Overall this is a great recipe!
