Make love for Valentine’s Day. It’s easy with this recipe for homemade strawberry and blueberry hand pies!
Sweet mounds of fruit are embraced between two layers of pie crust in this quick, simple, and totally stunning recipe. Prepare yourself to fall madly, deeply, into dessert.
Strawberries are red….
Blueberries are blue…
These four ingredients are all you need to make fruity hand pies for you! (or someone you love)…
For real, there’s not a easier way to get your Valentine’s bakery-snakery on than with this recipe. Just toss the frozen berries (strawberry or blueberries both work brilliantly!) with sugar and cornstarch.
Then spoon the filling (the fruit part, not the goopy, liquidy part) into the center of little pie crusts cut into hearts with a cookie cutter.
Gently place a second pie crust on top of the fruit filling.
Secure the edges with a firm press of your fingers, then add a smush with the tines of a fork to make it all look extra purdy. This is what we do for our valentines. Fork tine love. See how that works?
Once your hand pies are all baked and slightly cooled, drizzle brightly colored icing (recipe included below) all over the top of your treats. What’s that? Heart palpitations of happiness? Yeah, we know. We can’t be held responsible for medical bills resulting from general hand pie awesomeness.
We can be responsible for showing you this picture. And maybe this one…
Who loves ya, baby?
