How about some magnificent Mardi Gras morning muffins? You can bet your beautiful beads we’ve got ‘em!
It’s time for Mardi Gras, and you can’t celebrate Mardi Gras without a King Cake.
But instead of the traditional King Cake, these King Cake Pull-Apart Muffins are individually portioned, cinnamon sugary bites of heaven drizzled with an ample amount of Mardi Gras colored frosting.
Start with a Pillsbury crusty French loaf and make tiny scores across the whole loaf so you can slice even pieces of dough.
Roll out each piece of dough so you have a flat circle, which means more surface area for butter and a whole lot of cinnamon sugar. I like to incorporate science into my cooking.
I had a little helper who was literally dumping cinnamon sugar generously on each dough circle. That’s the kind of help I like. Stack the discs on top of each other and slice them down the middle.
Place them in a muffin tin, cut-side down, so that the tops are showing. The petal-like tops make the muffins look almost like a flower made from cinnamon sugar dough. (muffin tin)
To Mardi Gras out these muffins, drizzle melted colored frosting generously on top and sprinkle freely with edible gold glitter.
Look how festive these are!
Your friends will love pulling these apart layer by layer. You’ll want to savor each and every bite.
